Fair Funding for Michigan Families

The Association of Accredited Child and Family Agencies (AACFA) is made up of non-profit, accredited child welfare agencies that offer a full continuum of high-quality and comprehensive services, from juvenile justice and residential care, to counseling and other family services like foster care and adoption.

AACFA organizations provide services to thousands of children and families per year and facilitate hundreds of licenses for foster families and hundreds of adoptions annually. Our six member companies proudly employ more than 2,100 workers across Michigan. Our highly trained frontline workers play a critical role supporting Michigan families particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through our Fair Funding for Michigan Families campaign, we advocate for funding equity with the state across all non-profit, accredited child welfare agencies so we can meet the growing needs of Michigan’s children and families. We ask lawmakers to explore fairness in funding, as research shows investing in Michigan’s non-profit, accredited child welfare agencies on the front end will pay dividends for Michigan’s children, families and taxpayers.

Fairness in funding would also help level the playing field by affording us the resources to provide services to children amid a challenging labor shortage.

All our members are 501(c)(3) organizations and are accredited by the National Council on Accreditation or Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. As such we are subject to independent audits and reviews to ensure the highest standards for safety, transparency and fiscal responsibility. It also means our members are leading experts in the areas of child and family welfare services and best practices.

Our non-profit, accredited child welfare agencies stand ready to be a resource for you as you consider Fair Funding for Michigan Families and other child and family welfare issues.
